Another remakes of Sholay !

Today, August 31 , there is the release of "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag" the remake of Classic "Sholay" . Being the all-time classic movie , this is not strange for being remade.
India Times has an article ,that Pritish Nandy confirms, "We are planning the prequel, sequel and the remake of Sholay along with the animated version." , and they will firstly finalised the director and then the star casts. But now we heard that Manoj Bajpai , who firstly offered for the role of Sambha in Varma version , was approached for the role.

Manoj Bajpai says that he can play Jai or Veeru very well and Shefali Shah feels, she can’t imagine anybody playing the characters of Sholay, but she would prefer to see Rani Mukerji as Basanti and maybe herself portraying the role of Radha.

Tanuja Chandra, director of women protagonists films, states that her choices are -

"I would like to see Govinda as Veeru, Randeep Hooda as Jai, Radha being played by Konkona Sen Sharma and Akshaye Khanna as Gabbar Singh. Well, that’s a strange choice. "

Yes , of course that's really strange choice. But I would like to see Konkona in Radha role ! But for me Classic should not remade , for people classics are still in their heart and remake cannot overcame the original. But I hard and have seen a lots of remakes , "Umrao Jaan" , "Parineeta" and today "Sholay" and then "Meena Kumari's" Classic "Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam". I think however the directors and stars try out, the new ones cannot overcome the oldies and Classics are stay as classics for the audiences.

Call girls in Hindi Cinema!

Now Rani Mukherji is palying the prostitute in "Laaga Chunari Mein Dagg" .

Playing a call-girl on screen is not for the faint-hearted. But it’s one way to get noticed and talked about and even win a few awards. Even in the liberal ’90s, the role didn’t find many takers. But now we can call out that here are a lots of unforgettable performances of a prostitute. Start from Waheeda Rehman portrayed from ''Pyassa" to Lara Dutta's "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom" , it is obvious that Bollywood has churned out a string of movies showcasing the various shades of the sex worker.
Konkona Sen Sharma was reportedly apprehensive of playing a call girl in Traffic Signal. But then she did and got noticed for it. Director Sudhir Mishra states -

"Konkona’s portrayal of a brash hooker in Traffic Signal was brilliant. She wasn’t coy or ashamed of herself and handled the role very well."

This is same idea with me . I am very prised for her acting in Traffic Signal. Although this film do poorly at box office I definitely state that this role is one of her greatest performances ever. Even Konkona says that she felt so shameful for her dialogues but She suited the role and carried it off with a lot of emotional actions .

Konkona become a story-teller !

"These are short folk tales with a little bit of a moral tucked away in every story. There is one on a rat and another one about making bargains,” Konkona says.

Ask: Is there any do's and don'ts in story telling?

Konkona: "I have been told to read slowly which is very difficult for me since I am a fast reader. Even when I am reading in my mind or aloud I tend to do it fast. I think the children are going to lose their patience with me"

Karadi Tales Company’s Narayan Parasuram hope the story audio book will be a big draw with the children because of the celebrity factor. He also says that this audio book is also for child especially to homes where book reading does not exist.

And they state that Shahrukh Khan will going to be reading next.

Niraj Pathak making a film named "Right or Wrong" Sunny Deol, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Isha Kopikar, Kirron Kher and Aryan Vaid. This will start shotting in Septermber and produced by Mukta Arts. This film is thriller and shotting in Mumbai and Goa. This film misic by Monti Sharma and it has approximately Rs 120 million (Rs 12 crores).

Konkona in Shyam Benegal's Next?

We know that Shyam Benegal is one of the serious film maker in India.He give a lots of masterpieces like "Ankur" , "Bhumika" , "Mammo" , "Mandi" and others.
Mumbai Mirror has a story that he is now planning a new movie and this will feature Ravi Kishen and Shreyas Talpade . This film heroine is not confirmed and they are deciding between Konkona Sen Sharma, Sonali Kulkarni and Divya Dutta .
I think that Konkona is the most tatalent actress among them and hope Shyam can make his best choice. Anyway I am waiting forward for this film!

Dosar - Emotional companion

I have more pleasure in watching Bengali movies than Hindi Marsala commercial movies ! Bengali films are artier than hindis, slow moving more emotional conflicts. My favourite directors are Aprna Sen , Rituparno Ghosh and Satyajit Ray. Their films give some emotional beauty form watching and ending.

I am now looking forward the release of "Dosar" which already screen in Cannes Film festival and this year IIFA . This film stars Prasenjit Chatterjee and Konkona Sen Sharma is leading role. This film focus the beautiful relationship of husband and wife and this already received many good reviews from the small release in India. One unusual point is this film featured in black and white

In the interview Konkona herself state that this role is very close to her heart and the reviews states that she is very great in the movie. I haven't watched this film and very keen to watch. I hope this movie will come out soon.

Titli (Bengali Film) - 2002

Kononka's very first acclaimed role is Rituporno Ghosh's Titli , which is in Bengali. In the film she play the role of teenager who is crazy a film star, who already have an affair with her own mother.

This film is about the beautiful relationship of mother and daughter , played by Aparna Sen and Konkona (whose are real life mother and daughter).
Konkona performance is amazing as the dream romance broken teenager and having tension with her mother for her hero. She is also confused girl that whether her mother is still in love with the film star.Her character innocent is very prised for me.
After all Titli is much watch movie for Konkon's fan with great performances from Aparna and great direction of Rituporno Ghosh himself .

Rituporno Ghosh is a great Bengali director and he already made three films with Konkona. I'm still finding the DVD of ''Dosar" and waiting for the release of "Sunglass".

Traffic Signal (2007)

Konkona is the special appearance in Madhur Bhandarkar 's Traffic Signal, where she played the role of street-walker named Norrie!

I feel this role is one of the best of her works. A prostitute , in love with drug addicted , is one of her outstanding performance. Although this film itself is not successful like Madhur's early film , I like it just for Konkona's unusual performance.

Only about 15 minutes in entire film, Konkona made me the worth for the ticket. Especially she ask Dominic why he don't want to use her money and the death of Dominic where she made the climax of her acting skills.

Finally Traffic Signal is not the classics like Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay! (both film focus in same issue), I am highly prised for Konkona role which's different from her other characters !

Hope on Konkona!

Last Friday I went and watched "Chak De India" and I came back so nervous for "Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag" promos. I see the grogeous look of Konkona fraturing "Humko Haise Hai Bheinya...." song sequence with Rani. I have expectation for this movie that may be the century best film.With the powerhouse talent like Rani, Jayaji, Kirronji and Konkona herself and the director Pardeep Sarkar himself.

Moreover this is Konkona's first contribution in big Commercial Cinema like YashRaj Production and first time working with commercial actors.I am serious thatshe is better actress than Rani, but this is Rani's region of Yash Raj. So I hope Konkon do so far for this film and can get some interesting offers for such big project for leading lady role.

Another , "Aaja Nachlae" , the most awaited film for Madhuri's come back is also with Konkona. I cannot see Konkona single image in promos. But I hopefully think that she can have comparable role with Madhuri!

I have great expectation on Konkona! Please do bigger films Konkona. We all are your fans wishing the best for you!

"Koffee with Karan" is one of my most favourite shows.It was a lot of fun; a lot of smiling and laughing and teasing. Konkona is on the show both first and second seasons.Moreover other celebrities discribe Konkon's names in Karan's famous "Rapid Fire". Especailly the greatest actress like Shabana Azmi even give the Answer that "Today Finest Actress in Hindi Cinema" is "Konkona Sen Sharma".You can watch this here.
